Preparations for the 11th edition of the Golden Eye Cinematography Festival have started
The Municipality of Popovo has started preparations for the organization of the XI edition of the Golden Eye Cinematography Festival with international participation, in memory of the great Bulgarian cameraman Dimo Kolarov.
The festival will be held from 6 to 8 October 2022 in the town of Popovo – the hometown of Dimo Kolarov, which will feature productions of contemporary national and international cinema, with a public screening of the last two years – from July 2020 to July 2022 The organizer is the Municipality of Popovo, and its co-organizers are: the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers, UVT and the Ministry of Culture – EA “National Film Center”.
The festival was founded in 1998 in the town of Popovo – the birthplace of the classic of the Bulgarian cinematography school – Dimo Kolarov. It is held every two years and is one of the few festivals in Europe for cinematography. The proven authority of the Bulgarian Guild of Cinematography at home and abroad deserves its own festival, where fans of the seventh art can watch their latest films, and artists from different generations – from students to doyens, to discuss achievements in Bulgarian and world cinema.
The status of the festival is in the process of approval by the organizers and co-organizers and will soon be published on the official websites of: Popovo Municipality, the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers and the film festival website, and the form for accepting applications on the site will be active . The program will include the following categories: feature films, short films, documentaries and student productions.
