Veselin Hristov is the recipient of the “Golden Eye” award from the XII Film Festival for Cinematography Art

The final part of the Festival “Golden Eye” Popovo 2024 was the solemn award ceremony. The “Golden Eye” statuette was awarded to cinematographer Veselin Hristov for his work in the feature film “The Lessons of Goodness”.
The award for overall creativity was awarded to cinematographer Radoslav Spasov – for his long-term creative presence in Bulgarian cinema, who created the emblematic and classic films such as “Villa Zone”, “The Patent Shoes of the Unknown Warrior”, “Avantage”, “Measure according to Measure”, ” Time apart”, “Men’s times” and many other titles from the golden treasury of our native cinema. Unfortunately, the day after the ceremony, this talented artist also left us.
The jury awarded the first prize of Popovo Municipality for cinematography to the cinematographer Martin Balkanski for his film “Diada”. The documentary film “Balkan Black Box” by cameraman Delyan Georgiev was awarded the Special Award of Popovo Municipality. The award for cinematographic debut went to Antoni Stoev for his film “My Uncle Lyuben”. The co-organizer of the Municipality of Popovo – the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers, gave its award to the cameraman Kiril Prodanov for the feature film “Klopka”. The award of the production company “MAGIC SHOP” for a student film was for the film “Lazar” by the cinematographer Veselin Menkadzhiev. The jury also decided to award two honorary diplomas to cameramen Georgi Bogdanov and Boris Misirkov for the documentary film “Flying with Fins”, as well as to their colleague Ivan Vatsov – for the feature film “Bo Nan Za”.
After the five days in which the audience watched a movie, at the end of the evening they had the pleasure of “listening to a movie” with the concert of the same name, presented by Hilda Kazasyan, Vasil Petrov, Teodosii Spasov and the musicians of the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by maestro Borislav Yotsov.
